Billings Farm Magic of Maple
February 15–23
Billings Farm opens its sugarhouse for maple syrup demonstrations, tastings, and hands-on activities. One of the best ways to experience a Vermont sugar season up close.
March
Vermont Maple Season
March (all month)
Sugarhouses across the Upper Valley open for tours and tastings as sap runs. Many farms near Woodstock and Quechee welcome visitors during sugaring season.
May
Memorial Day Weekend
May 24–26
The unofficial start of Vermont summer. Hiking, dining, river access, and outdoor activities open up across the region after the long mud season.
June
Covered Bridges Half Marathon
June 1
33rd annual scenic race starting at Saskadena Six in Pomfret and finishing at Deweys Mills Field in Quechee — passing through covered bridges and Vermont farmland along the way.
Woodstock Pride Weekend
June 6–8
Pride of Woodstock — a full weekend of events including an opening mixer Friday evening, Saturday celebrations on the green, and community gatherings throughout the village.
Market on the Green Opens
Wednesdays, June 4 – October 1
Weekly outdoor market on Woodstock's village green with local produce, cheese, baked goods, crafts, and Vermont-made products every Wednesday through early October.
Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival
June 20–22
45th annual festival at Quechee Green Park. Dawn mass launches at 6 AM, tethered rides, live music across multiple stages, craft vendors, and food. Over 20,000 visitors across three days.
July
Fourth of July Celebrations
July 4
One of Vermont's best Independence Day celebrations — parade through the village, readings on the green, The Flames band, and fireworks at dusk at Woodstock Union High School.
Quechee Polo Club Matches
Saturdays, July–August
Weekly polo matches at the Quechee Polo Grounds on Deweys Mills Road. Free to spectators, with a relaxed atmosphere and stunning Upper Valley backdrop.
August
Taste of Woodstock
August 9
Free street festival on Elm Street showcasing Woodstock's best restaurants, food vendors, local producers, and live music. 10 AM – 6 PM in the heart of the village.
Quechee Scottish Games & Festival
August 23
50th anniversary of the Quechee Scottish Games at the Polo Grounds — Highland athletics, pipe bands, Scottish dancing, clan tents, food, and traditional games. 9 AM – 5 PM.
September
Woodstock Art Festival
September 6–7
Annual juried art show on the village green organized by the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce — regional artists, crafts, and the first hints of early fall color. Sat 10–5, Sun 10–4.
Early Fall Foliage
Late September
The beginning of Vermont's foliage season. Higher elevations start to turn first — ideal for gorge hikes, scenic drives on Route 4, covered bridge photography, and before the peak crowds.
October
Billings Farm Harvest Celebration
October 4–5
Weekend harvest festival at Billings Farm with seasonal activities, hands-on demonstrations, live entertainment, and the full fall foliage backdrop of the Ottauquechee valley. 10 AM – 5 PM.
Peak Fall Foliage
Early–Mid October
Vermont's busiest and most spectacular travel period. The gorge walls, the Woodstock common, and the valley roads are surrounded by color. Book lodging 4–6 months ahead for peak weekends.
Apples & Crafts Fair
October 11–12
51st annual Apples & Crafts Fair & Food Truck Festival at Bailey's Meadow on Route 4. Local apple vendors, artisan crafts, food trucks, and classic Vermont autumn atmosphere. Sat 10–4, Sun 10–3.
November
Thanksgiving Weekend
November 27–30
Holiday dining, local shopping, and the start of Vermont's winter travel season. Woodstock decorates beautifully for the holidays and many restaurants offer special Thanksgiving menus.
December
Woodstock Wassail Weekend
December 12–14
41st annual Wassail Weekend — Friday lantern walk, Saturday Grand Parade of Carriages through the village, holiday markets, caroling, and Christmas atmosphere at its most concentrated.
Ski Season Opens
Mid–Late December
Ski season opens with access to Okemo (45 min), Killington (30 min), and Saskadena Six in South Pomfret (5 min from Woodstock). Quechee and Woodstock make quieter, more comfortable bases than staying at the mountains.
